The Great Rivers Council Unit Excellence Program recognizes outstanding performance while providing clear, achievable benchmarks for unit success. By defining expectations across planning, program delivery, leadership, membership growth and retention, and marketing, the program outlines what strong, sustainable units look like in action.
Units that meet or exceed these standards are recognized and celebrated. Units still building capacity receive guidance, coaching, and targeted resources to support their growth. The focus is not on evaluation, but on alignment, ensuring every unit is working toward a shared commitment of delivering a high-quality Scouting experience for youth and families.

Recognition – Unit Excellence award
Units achieving the established program may be recognized at appropriate district or council events, such as a volunteer recognition reception, highlighted in the Council Annual Report, and presented with a special ribbon for the unit flag signifying the achievement.
