Scouting for Mentors in the Innovation Space

The Invention Scouts program was initiated in 2014 to establish a culture of innovation, curiosity, and discovery among young Scouts with a passion for moving novel ideas into tangible products or designs. Under the leadership of Jeanne Sinquefield, Invention Scouts grew into the Sinquefield Innovation Campus at Lake of the Ozarks Scout Reservation. To ensure a long-term evergreen state of Invention Scouts, Sinquefield has established the Invention Rangers to cement trained adult leaders into a cadre of  individuals capable of using Scouting methods to teach skills and abilities for Scouts on state-of-the-art equipment. A recent article published in Technology and Innovation, the journal of the National Academy of Inventors, provides insight into the current state of Invention Scouts along with the vision for future program development.
