The Scouting Adventure Center is becoming the ultimate hub for young scientists! Earlier this month, we hosted “Unbelievable Science: Geology – Rocks, Fossils & Lava!”, an event that sold out almost immediately and left a waitlist of eager learners. The excitement was undeniable—and for good reason.

A Look Back: Why Rocks, Fossils & Lava Was a Hit
On November 1, 2025, curious minds gathered for an immersive journey into geology, led by Science on Wheels, a graduate student group from the University of Missouri. Participants explored real rocks and minerals, compared crystals to those in Minecraft, and even crafted their own crystal cubes as souvenirs.
The Lava Lab Experiments brought science to life with hands-on activities that showcased the dynamic movement of lava—messy, thrilling, and unforgettable! And the Fossil Exploration gave kids the chance to hold history in their hands, including Missouri’s own state fossil, the crinoid.
Perhaps the most inspiring part? Meeting real scientists! Graduate students from Mizzou’s Geological Sciences Department shared their expertise and answered questions, sparking curiosity and showing that science is interactive, exciting, and accessible.

The overwhelming response to this event proves one thing: kids love science when it’s hands-on, fun, and full of discovery!
Next Up: Dizzy Gyroscope Adventure!
The momentum continues with our next Unbelievable Science Series event:
Dizzy Gyroscope Adventure – Open to Everyone!
On Saturday, December 6th, 2025, from 9:00 AM to Noon, kids ages 7–12 will dive into the fascinating world of motion and balance with Dizzy, the incredible 6-in-1 gyroscope machine. For just $9 per person, each participant gets:
– A Dizzy Gyroscope Kit (Model TTG-635) valued at $34.99
– Instructions to build six amazing creations: stilts, a rover, a swinging robot, a tower spinner, a scooter, and even a roller coaster rider!

This isn’t just play—it’s STEM in action! Kids will learn the principles of gyroscopes, balance, and motion while boosting creativity and problem-solving skills. Imagine the thrill as they pull the ripcord and watch Dizzy spin and balance in ways they never thought possible!
