New Partnership Announcement

Missouri Valley College has partnered with the Great Rivers Council, to establish one of the country’s largest Eagle Scout Scholarships – $52,500 over four years.

Dr. Joe Parisi, president of Missouri Valley College, and John K. Fabsits, scout executive and CEO, made the joint announcement.

“Eagle Scouts are high-achieving, high-character individuals,” Parisi said. “Their leadership and level of service and commitment is an example for all.”

Parisi said it was only natural to create the scholarship, given H. Roe Bartle’s legacy as president at Missouri Valley College and founder of the American Humanics Program, along with being the legendary scout executive of the Kansas City Area Council for over 25 years.

“We are committed to the level of excellence H. Roe Bartle stood for,” Parisi said. “And we want to take it to the next level.”

Fabsits said the partnership between the Scouts and Missouri Valley College paves the way for the next generation of students and equips graduates with great tools as they enter the workforce.

“It provides a unique opportunity for young leaders to pursue their dreams, make a difference, and create a better tomorrow,” Fabsits said.

Missouri Valley College has earmarked up to $250,000 per year for Eagle Scouts, Parisi said. To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must have completed their Eagle Scout Award and be admissible to Missouri Valley College. Recipients of the scholarship must qualify annually with satisfactory academic progress.

William Woods University

William Woods University has partnered with the Great Rivers Council, to establish a scholarship for all Eagle Scouts across the country and tuition discounts and benefits for Scout leaders, volunteers, employees, and immediate families.

The partnership highlights:

  • Eagle Scouts interested in attending the traditional on-campus degrees will receive a scholarship equal to a 60% tuition discount. (This offers a potential $70,000 scholarship over four years.)
  • Eagle Scouts, Scouting employees, volunteers, Scout leaders, Scouts, and their immediate families will receive a tuition discount equaling 20% of the standard tuition for all online programs through the University’s online presence, Woods Global.

“We are pleased to enter into this partnership with them, where virtually everyone associated with creating a positive Scouts experience, from members and their immediate families to troop leaders and volunteers, has the opportunity to benefit from a William Woods education,” said Dr. Jeremy Moreland, President of William Woods University.

“The partnership with William Woods University underscores the paramount importance of the Scouting mission in shaping tomorrow’s leaders. Through this collaboration, WWU is investing in empowering Eagle Scouts, families, and our volunteers by furthering their education, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to make a lasting impact in their communities and beyond,” said John Fabsits, Scout Executive/CEO
